Marketing, social media

Confucius says…

I promise this isn’t a bad joke, it is an actual quote (I think).

“And remember, no matter where you go, there you are.”

This is good advice when embarking on creating and maintaining social media presences. When you create a Facebook Page for your brand, you are on Facebook. When you create a Twitter profile, you are on Twitter. When you create a LinkedIn page, you are on LinkedIn. You get the picture.

It is important to remember that you are “there”, present on these channels, even when you aren’t. This is to say, to social presence is always on. Especially once you call attention to your presence, then you are expected to be present.

Social media isn’t a “I’ll do it on Friday” kind of thing. You can’t set one day to wade through your social media presences like you might choose one day to respond to emails. You have to be social (novel idea right?).

Once you are there, you are there. No matter what. May as well actually be there and realize the value of these channels.

Be social. Be human.
